Davis & Henderson / D+H / Finastra Cheques Alternative — Higher Security. More Cheques. Lower Price.
D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, and ChequeCentral don’t include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink. We do — standard on every business cheque, at a lower base price, with 25–60% more cheques free on every order. Canadian-owned, CPA #1010 accredited. Guaranteed savings versus any D+H or bank-reorder channel.
🔒 The D+H Security Gap (and why it costs you more, not less)
Cheque fraud cost Canadian businesses an estimated $300 million+ in 2024. The two features that actually stop it — hologram gold foil and heat-sensitive ink — are not included on Davis & Henderson, D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, or ChequeCentral business cheques. They come standard on ours.
What D+H / Finastra / ChequeSelect include
- ✗ No hologram gold foil
- ✗ No heat-sensitive ink
- ✓ MICR line & CPA baseline
- ✓ Micro-printing & void pantograph
What Print & Cheques Now includes — standard
- ✓ Hologram gold foil included
- ✓ Heat-sensitive ink included
- ✓ MICR, micro-printing, void pantograph
- ✓ Chemical-reactive paper
Net result: higher security + 25–60% more cheques free + lower base price = guaranteed savings on every reorder, against any D+H or bank-reorder channel.
One Company, Five Names: The D+H / Finastra Cheques Ecosystem
Over 150 years, the same Canadian cheque-printing operation has operated under five different names and branded portals. Here’s how they all connect — and why it matters when you’re hunting for a better price on your next cheque reorder.
Davis & Henderson
Founded in 1875 as a Toronto bookbinder, Davis & Henderson became Canada’s dominant cheque printer after introducing MICR-encoded cheques in the 1960s. If you ordered cheques from your bank before 2007, they were almost certainly printed by Davis & Henderson.
D+H (D&H)
In 2007, Davis & Henderson rebranded as D+H. The company went public, expanded beyond cheques into banking software, and was operating across 15 countries by the time of its 2017 sale. Same cheques, new logo.
Finastra
In June 2017, Vista Equity Partners acquired D+H for $4.8B and merged it with UK software firm Misys. The combined company was renamed Finastra — an American-owned fintech. Cheque operations continue out of Markham, Ontario; Finastra celebrated “150 years of cheques” in July 2025.
ChequeSelect
ChequeSelect (chequeselect.com) is the D+H/Finastra web portal your bank routes you to when you reorder business or personal cheques through online banking. The brand you see on the sign-in screen is D+H, even though the cheques are Finastra-printed.
ChequeCentral
ChequeCentral (hosted at dh-pda.dhltd.com) is D+H/Finastra’s self-serve reorder portal specifically for personal cheques. You log in with your branch, institution, and account numbers — and pay retail prices to a U.S.-owned private equity company.
Print & Cheques Now
30+ years of Canadian family ownership. CPA #1010 accredited printer. Hologram gold foil and heat-sensitive ink included standard — the two anti-counterfeit features D+H / Finastra does not offer — plus 25–60% more cheques free on every order, at a lower base price. Same-day printing by 2 PM EST.
Davis & Henderson Cheques Alternative
Been reordering Davis & Henderson cheques from your bank or bookkeeper since before the Finastra rebrand? Here’s what they never told you: the company is now American-owned (Vista Equity Partners, 2017), and the cheques you’re paying premium prices for don’t include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink — the two security features that actually stop modern cheque fraud. As a 30-year Canadian-owned Davis and Henderson cheques alternative, we print to identical CPA Canada #1010 MICR standards, include both security features standard, and charge 25–60% less. Guaranteed savings, higher security, on every reorder.
D+H Cheques Alternative
D+H is the 2007 rebrand of Davis & Henderson — same printer, new logo. If you’re currently ordering through any D+H cheques flow (your bank’s online banking portal, direct.ecommerce.dh.com, or ChequeSelect.com), you’re paying retail pricing to an American-owned PE firm for cheques that don’t include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink. Our D+H cheques alternative includes both anti-fraud features standard, prints to identical Payments Canada CPA #1010 MICR spec, and ships with 25–60% more cheques free. Same-day print by 2 PM EST, Monday through Friday. You pay less, you get more, you’re harder to counterfeit.
Finastra Cheques Alternative
Finastra is the current operating name (post-2017 Vista Equity Partners acquisition) of the company that used to be Davis & Henderson / D+H. If your bank or software vendor quotes you Finastra cheques — through finastracanada.com, dhltd.com, direct.ecommerce.dh.com, ChequeSelect, or ChequeCentral — here’s the gap most business owners don’t know about: Finastra business cheques do not include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink. Our Finastra cheques alternative includes both anti-counterfeit features standard, prints to identical CPA #1010 MICR spec, and costs less. Canadian family-owned. Risk-free reprint guarantee.
ChequeSelect Alternative (Business & Bank Cheque Reorder)
ChequeSelect.com is the D+H/Finastra reorder portal your bank redirects you to when you click “Order Cheques” in online banking. On the ChequeSelect sign-in screen you’ll see ATB Financial, BMO, Canadian Western Bank, CIBC, Caisses Desjardins, Laurentian, Manulife, National Bank, Royal Bank, Scotiabank, TD Canada Trust, and UNI Financial in the dropdown — every one of those banks routes cheque reorders through D+H at retail prices. The twist: ChequeSelect business cheques don’t include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink. Our ChequeSelect alternative does. Same MICR, same bank compatibility, higher anti-fraud security, 25–60% more cheques free, lower base price. Order direct, bypass the portal, and skip the middleman markup.
ChequeCentral Alternative (Personal Cheques)
ChequeCentral (at dh-pda.dhltd.com/chequecentral) is D+H/Finastra’s self-serve personal cheque reorder portal. You log in with branch, institution, and account numbers from the MICR line at the bottom of a cheque — and get locked out if you haven’t ordered in the last three years. A ChequeCentral alternative is a direct Canadian cheque printer you can reorder from using the same MICR data — no portal, no login, no 3-year order-history window, no branch phone-call, no retail markup. Free shipping Canada-wide. Accepted by every Canadian bank and credit union.

The Two Security Features D+H Doesn’t Offer (and Four More We Both Include)
Cheque fraud cost Canadian businesses an estimated $300 million+ in 2024. The two features most likely to stop it are the two features D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, and ChequeCentral business cheques do not include. Here’s what each security layer actually does.
🔑 Hologram Gold Foil PCN only
What it does: A metallic, light-reflective foil embedded into the cheque stock. Colour photocopiers and scanners can’t reproduce the iridescence — it instantly signals a forgery. D+H / Finastra status: Not offered on their business or personal cheque products. PCN status: Standard on laser & manual cheques, at no markup.
🔥 Heat-Sensitive Ink PCN only
What it does: A printed region that disappears when touched (body heat) and reappears when cool. Photocopying and digital scanning can’t reproduce the reaction, so counterfeits fail instantly at a bank teller’s touch. D+H / Finastra status: Not offered. PCN status: Standard on every laser and manual business cheque.
MICR Line (E-13B Font)
The magnetic-ink line at the bottom of every cheque, read by every Canadian bank’s sorter. Must be printed in Payments Canada-approved MICR toner to clear CPA Standard 006. Both D+H and PCN print to identical CPA #1010 spec — your bank’s reader cannot tell the difference.
Chemical-Reactive Paper
Alters colour when exposed to common ink-eradicator chemicals (bleach, acetone, solvents). Any attempt to alter the payee or amount leaves a visible stain. Included on every cheque we print; D+H/Finastra offers equivalent chemical protection on most business cheque stock.
Micro-Printing
Text printed at 0.5mm or smaller — legible only under magnification — that smudges into illegibility when photocopied. Industry-standard; included on both D+H and PCN cheques.
Void Pantograph
A hidden “VOID” pattern that appears only on photocopies. One of the oldest, most reliable anti-forgery features in the cheque industry. Standard on both D+H and PCN business laser and manual cheques.
If fraud prevention is a business priority, hologram gold foil and heat-sensitive ink are the two features that matter most — both are inexpensive to add at print time, both are visually impossible to counterfeit, and both are standard on every Print & Cheques Now laser and manual cheque order. D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, and ChequeCentral do not list these features on their business or personal cheque product pages as of 2026-04-21.

Davis & Henderson / D+H / Finastra Cheques — FAQ
Common questions from business owners and account holders switching their cheque reorder from D+H-branded portals to a direct Canadian cheque printer.
Is Davis & Henderson the same company as D+H and Finastra?
Yes. Davis & Henderson was founded in 1875 in Toronto. It rebranded to D+H in 2007. In June 2017 it was acquired by U.S. private equity firm Vista Equity Partners for $4.8 billion and merged with UK software company Misys; the combined company was renamed Finastra. The cheque-printing operation continues under Finastra out of Markham, Ontario. All three names refer to the same underlying cheque printer — just in different eras.
What’s the difference between ChequeSelect and ChequeCentral?
Both are D+H/Finastra online reorder portals. ChequeSelect (chequeselect.com) is the portal banks route business and personal customers to when you choose “Order Cheques” inside online banking — you’ll see your bank’s name on the sign-in screen. ChequeCentral (dh-pda.dhltd.com/chequecentral) is a separate D+H-branded self-serve reorder portal specifically for personal cheques, where you log in using branch / institution / account numbers from an existing cheque.
Will cheques from a D+H alternative work with my bank?
Yes. Every Canadian bank and credit union processes cheques based on Payments Canada CPA Standard 006 — the MICR-encoded line at the bottom. Our cheques are printed to CPA #1010 specification, the same accreditation D+H/Finastra holds. We print for customers at every major Canadian bank: RBC Royal Bank, TD Canada Trust, BMO, Scotiabank, CIBC, National Bank, ATB Financial, Canadian Western Bank, Laurentian, Manulife, Desjardins, and every Canadian credit union.
How much does a D+H cheques alternative actually save?
Most business customers see guaranteed savings on every reorder across three stacked dimensions: a lower base price than D+H retail, 25% more laser + 50% more manual cheques free, and higher security (hologram gold foil and heat-sensitive ink included — D+H doesn’t offer them at all). On a standard 200-cheque laser order, this typically works out to one or two free reorders per year plus upgraded anti-fraud features. We honour a price-match guarantee against any verified written quote from D+H, ChequeSelect, or ChequeCentral.
What security features do your cheques include compared to D+H?
Every Print & Cheques Now laser and manual business cheque includes hologram gold foil and heat-sensitive ink as standard — two anti-counterfeit features that D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, and ChequeCentral do not offer on their business or personal cheque products. We also include MICR E-13B, micro-printing, void pantograph, and chemical-reactive paper, printed to Payments Canada CPA #1010 specification. Net result: higher-security cheques at a lower price than D+H.
Why do D+H / Finastra cheques cost more if they don’t include hologram gold foil or heat-sensitive ink?
Two reasons. First, when you reorder through your bank, ChequeSelect, or ChequeCentral, you’re paying retail pricing through a middleman channel — the bank/portal takes a cut. Second, D+H/Finastra is owned by U.S. private equity (Vista Equity Partners, since 2017) and prices to hit margin targets, not to compete on security or quantity. Direct-from-printer Canadian alternatives like Print & Cheques Now skip the middleman, upgrade the security, and still charge less because we don’t have portal fees to pay.
Can I keep my existing cheque number sequence when I switch from D+H?
Yes. When you order, you specify the starting cheque number and we continue from there. Your bookkeeping, accounting software, and bank reconciliation stay uninterrupted. Most customers switch seamlessly between their last D+H cheque and their first PCN cheque without issue.
Do I need to cancel my D+H / ChequeSelect / ChequeCentral account first?
No. There’s nothing to cancel — D+H, ChequeSelect, and ChequeCentral are order portals, not subscriptions. You simply stop placing reorders there and start ordering from us. Your bank account is completely unaffected.
Is Print & Cheques Now affiliated with Davis & Henderson, D+H, or Finastra?
No. Print & Cheques Now is a fully independent, Canadian family-owned cheque printer with no affiliation, partnership, or endorsement relationship with Davis & Henderson, D+H, Finastra, ChequeSelect, or ChequeCentral. We are an alternative printer providing compatible CPA-accredited cheques.
How fast can I get my D+H alternative cheques?
Same-day printing is available on orders placed by 2 PM EST, Monday through Friday. Standard production is one business day. Shipping is typically 1–3 business days by tracked Canada-wide courier. Compare that to D+H/Finastra’s typical 5–10 business day turnaround.
Are your personal cheques a real ChequeCentral alternative?
Yes. Our personal cheques are printed to the same Payments Canada #1010 standard and are accepted by every Canadian bank and credit union. You don’t need a ChequeCentral login, a branch phone call, or a 3-year order history with D+H — you order directly with your MICR line details and we ship free Canada-wide.
Do you offer a risk-free guarantee?
Yes. If there’s an error on our part in the printing, layout, MICR line, or proofing process, we reprint at no cost. We also issue a digital proof for your approval before any cheque is printed, so you catch any issues before they leave our facility.
Can I order D+H alternative cheques for multiple bank accounts?
Absolutely. Many of our business customers order cheques for multiple accounts, subsidiaries, or brands — across different banks — on a single order. Call 1-866-760-2661 and we’ll walk you through it, or order each account online separately.
Pay Less. Get More. Print Harder-to-Counterfeit Cheques.
Switch your Davis & Henderson / D+H / Finastra / ChequeSelect / ChequeCentral reorder to a Canadian-owned, CPA #1010 printer. Higher security (hologram gold foil + heat-sensitive ink, standard). 25–60% more cheques free, every order. Lower base price. Guaranteed savings — on every reorder.
